How to submit an iPad only app

We submitted our first iPad app last night just in time for the iPad launch. But it wasn't easy. So we want to share what we found to do the trick:

1. In Xcode, whilst your project is highlighted, select the "i" button to view the project's info window
2. From the "Configurations" tab, duplicate your Release configuration and rename as Distribution
3. From the "Build" tab, change these settings for your new Distribution configuration:
   - Architecture to "armv7" (you need to manually add this in for iPad only apps)
   - Base SDK to "iPhone Device 3.2"
   - Valid Architecture to "armv7" (you need to manually add this in again)
   - Code Signing Identity to your Distribution profile
   - Target Device Family to "iPad"
   - iPhone OS Deployment Target to "iPhone OS 3.2"
4. Highlight your project from Targets, and view your Target info by pressing on the "i" button
5. Make sure all the settings match the above list
6. Now the tricky bit, unlike what is mentioned on Apple developer site and in the iPad UI guide document, you need to include a 57x57 icon in .png format and not a 48x48 one! So make sure your 57x57 icon is included in your resources folder and on the info.plist (under CFBundleIconFiles)
7. Also include a 72x72 icon
8. Make sure you have only included two icons (we were having problems submitting when our info.plist included all three sizes)
9. Last build step, we promise, select Active SDK to be "Use Base SDK" and Active Configuration to "Distribution" and now hit build!
10. Do a quick check that your build includes your distribution codesign and mobile provision form your build result logs.
11. Now that everything is in order, find your app's binary by right clicking on your app from the Products folder and selecting "Reveal in Finder"
12. Compress your compiled app and you are ready to submit

Best of luck!

Sagakure-blog

If you are like us, you are super excited about iPad. So we are extremely happy to have made it in time to submit our Sagakure iPad app, ready for the iPad launch. And once approved by Apple, you would be able to play with the app on your shiny new device.

Sagakure's iPad app is set in a vampire mansion, guiding you through to select the most loveable little vampire. Once you get your results, don't forget to post your findings on facebook.

All artworks for this app were done by the very talented Sagakure and the awesome music was created by David Ritter. So a big thank you to them both.

Movie Buff app gets a much deserved facelift

Multiple-moviebuff

You asked for more questions and we listened. New Movie Buff app will be coming your way very soon!

We have created a full version Movie Buff app loaded with over 4500 questions from different categories! So if you thought the original app was too easy with only 2 categories of actors and directors, get ready to be truly challenged.

But that is not all. We have added iPod library integrations, so you can choose your background music from your collection adding to the excitement. The new Movie Buff also lets you share your results on Twitter and Facebook...

On top of all this, the new Movie Buff comes with a brand new stylish interface to match the new super functionalities.

We still wanted to offer a free version for the Movie Buff, so we have decided to offer the old Movie Buff as a Lite version. We will of course still upgrade the functionality and interface.

Stay tuned for our release announcements.
